Walden contains two Municipal Utility Districts (MUD), MUD 8 and MUD 9. Each MUD has a board of directors responsible for the operation of water wells and the sewer treatment plant.
MUD 8 and MUD 9 levy taxes on real estate within their districts to pay for operations and debt service for the installation of the water and sewer distribution system.
