April . . . Chores Galore
This is the month that I have to get serious about lawn and shrub care. Even though I have diligently followed Margie Barlow’s column, I don’t get to everything done that she suggests when I should. Please make sure that you keep your lawn cut and watered and your landscape in great shape. And remember that every lot in Walden is owned by someone, so dumping your cuttings and clippings on that vacant lot next to you is causing a problem for that property owner. So be a good neighbor, compost any clippings and bag any other debris and let the trash collectors take it away. And if you see a landscape contractor dumping material on a vacant lot, give us a call at the office with their name and the time/location this happened and we will follow up.
Shred Day
We had announced a shred day for Walden for April 13. We received many suggestions to reschedule it after April 15, so more documents could be disposed of. So, we have rescheduled the shred day until May 4, again to take place at the tin maintenance building “behind” the Racquet Club.
Golf Cart Policy
The deed restrictions ban golf carts/ATVs/ROVs and other non-registered vehicles from Walden. However, the Texas legislature changed the law to allow golf carts to be driven on the public streets of a planned, deed restricted community, such as Walden. The Board wishes to finalize a policy covering the operation of golf carts/ATVs/ROVs in Walden. The proposed policy is located in this issue and the Board wants to get comments from the residents about it. Please provide your comments in an email addressed to frontdesk@waldenonlakeconroe.com with “Golf Cart Policy” in the subject line. Or send us a letter, addressed to Golf Cart Policy at 13301 Walden Road, Montgomery Texas 77356. The policy will be discussed and voted on at the April 18 Board meeting at the Yacht Club.
Dr. Beau Rees to Speak April 25
MISD Superintendent Dr. Beau Rees will be speaking at the Yacht Club on Thursday, April 25 at 6:30 PM. Lake Conroe Community Network is sponsoring the event, and all around Lake Conroe are invited. Dr. Rees will speak about the many issues facing the District, from curriculum to funding, and answer any questions you may have. Please plan to attend and enjoy the Yacht Club buffet either before or after the presentation.
Investigate Before You Buy
Several residents have received an offer from Homeserve to cover any repair to their water supply pipes between the water meter and their home. The cost is $4.99 per month and provides $3,500 for each call to repair this line. Before you purchase this coverage, please check your homeowner’s policy, or call you insurance agent and ask if this additional protection is appropriate for your situation.
MUD 8 and MUD 9 Reports
Please look in the newsletter for the MUD 8 and MUD 9 report. This will give you important information concerning all the activity with sewer rehabilitation and other projects.
Pool Operation
Look inside for the latest information about the Yacht Club pool. It will officially open on the second weekend in May, also referred to as Mother’s Day weekend, for weekend operation, with full operation starting on Memorial Day weekend.
